Local conditions
Retained bush behaves differently to a garden. Dead standing timber is a normal part of a bushland block and it is not automatically a problem, but where it stands over a house, a shed, a water tank, a track or a fence line it becomes one. Dead stems lose structural integrity progressively, and they come down without any of the warning a live tree gives.
The other factor is fuel and vegetation management around structures. Owners of bushland blocks commonly want vegetation cleared back from the house, the shed and the access track, both for practical reasons and for peace of mind. That work needs to be done selectively rather than indiscriminately, because clearing the wrong trees leaves the remaining ones exposed and unstable.
Distance matters too. Nahrunda is not somewhere a crew drops past on the way to another job. Getting a quote and getting the work done efficiently means treating the property as a single piece of work rather than a series of small visits.
